How do Gemstones affect the Tridoshas and Nadi (Pulse) ?

Gemstones can possess healing energy or influence on the tridoshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. They activate the energy centres in our body and enhance positive vibrations, while reducing the negative ones. The vibration of a gem stone works best along certain pathways of energy called Nadis, which is represented by the pulsations or pulse. Wearing these stones as rings or necklaces has a subtle effect on the auric field of living beings. As per Ayurveda, the Gemstones can also be consumed or taken internally in the form of Bhasma (ash resulting from the spiritual and medicated Ayurvedic burning procedure), which gives accurate results in many diseases.
Although the benefits are countless, it is worthwhile to get a glimpse of the major Gemstones, the planets they represent, which affect our auric fields and the effect or outcome of same as follows:

Nadi -Vigyan and Body Constitution - Vata, Pitta and Kapha

The three doshas or Vata, Pitta and Kapha move in the whole body producing good or bad effects upon the entire system according to their normal or provoked states. Their normal state is called ‘prakriti’ and their abnormal or provoked state is called ‘vikruti’. 'Prakriti' is one’s basic constitution established at the time of conception, i.e. even before the birth. 'Prakriti' can be found at the deepest level of the Nadi or pulse.
‘Vikruti’ is our present or current state and is found at the superficial level of the Nadi.
Prakriti and Vikruti are both of three types based on which dosha they emanate from -Vataj, Pittaj or Kahpaj.
Underlying this constitution, is the manas prakriti or prakriti pertaining to the mental and spiritual constitution and similarly a manas vikruti. The manas prakriti and vikruti are the foundations of one’s mental, spiritual and bodily systems and can affect the health and wellness of a person to a great extent. In fact by improving one’s manas prakriti and minimizing manas vikruti, one can also improve the overall physical health to a great extent.
As per Acharya Charaka, mind is the faculty that directs the senses towards an object or entity of perception and to create awareness and then carries the sensory knowledge to the mind to create the knowledge and the resultant contact with it. The Ancient science of Ayurveda, based on the vedic philosophy theorizes the universe as composed of various perceptible and non-perceptible entities which are basically constituted by five basic elements namely – Jal or Water, Agni or Fire, Prithvi or Earth, Vayu or Air and Aakash or Aether. A persons ‘prakriti’ as also composed of these five elements and characterized by the three doshas in various proportions can be used to assess a person’s nature categorized in terms of creative, judgmental, pessimistic, spiritual and emotional thinking and behavior.  This assessment can be done through a clinical diagnostic skill which can be termed as ‘prakriti analysis’ using tools such as Nadi-Pariksha or Pulse diagnosis, which assesses the flow, patterns and waves of ‘Nadi’ to arrive at various assessments.
